SMC Squared Co-Founder and CEO, Patricia Connolly developed the Grit Award after being inspired by the book "Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance," by Angela Duckworth. Since the inception of the Grit Award, SMC has been recognizing individuals who continuously go above and beyond with that special blend of passion and persistence. The award, which is widely embraced by SMC employees, was most recently expanded to honor exemplary individuals who thrived particularly despite the challenges they faced in 2020.
"The winners of this quarter's awards were handpicked based on the individual’s contributions during a period of time that was all but ordinary. We wanted to recognize candidates who had shown the courage and resilience to achieve their commitments during challenging times," said Director of Human Resources Supriya Ambuga.
"While we did consider the outcome of their actions, we heavily considered associates who have demonstrated overall attitude, will, and the coordination to lead their team during complex situations."
