SMC Squared Co-Founder and CEO, Patricia Connolly developed the Grit Award after being inspired by the book “Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance,” by Angela Duckworth.  Since the inception of the Grit Award, SMC Squared has been recognizing individuals who continuously go above and beyond with that special blend of passion and persistence.  The award, which is widely embraced by SMC Squared employees, was most recently expanded to honor exemplary individuals who thrived particularly despite the challenges they faced in 2020.

“The winners of this quarter’s awards were handpicked based on the individual’s contributions during a period of time that was all but ordinary.  We wanted to recognize candidates who had shown the courage and resilience to achieve their commitments during challenging times,” said Director of Human Resources Supriya Ambuga.

“While we did consider the outcome of their actions, we heavily considered associates who have demonstrated overall attitude, will, and the coordination to lead their team during complex situations. “

The quarterly awards recognize the top-performing individuals who have the right skill set with the ideal mindset to match.  Individuals who are committed to their own success and the success of the companies they work with; whose meaningful intentions and perseverance contribute to the long-term success of their companies.
